Valda Brooks

Valda leads the firm’s Business Law Group and is also a member of the Dispute Resolution Group. She joined the firm in 2004 having spent many years at Nabarro (prior to its merger with CMS).

Valda advises on various aspects of business law and documentation including commercial transactions such as joint ventures, refinancing, restructuring, shares sale and purchase, shareholders’ agreements, partnership agreements, agency agreements and general contractual arrangements. Her particular focus is on the financial sector.

Valda has vast litigation experience and expertise. She advises on a wide range of commercial disputes utilising all avenues of alternative dispute resolution and the courts.

As a member of the firm’s Privy Council Agents Group dealing with appeals to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, Valda has acted on numerous appeals ranging from complex commercial disputes to appeals involving appellants serving life or death sentences. She is an active member of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council User Group and regularly attends meetings of the User Group at the Supreme Court.
