Merlene is a Senior Solicitor at the firm. She has specialised in property litigation for over 15 years and has also dealt with other areas of dispute resolution.
Merlene’s wide property litigation work includes dealing with disputes and issues concerning co-ownership, leases, disrepair, dilapidation, building contracts, rent arrears, service charge, possession (residential and commercial property), lease renewals, nuisance, boundaries, adverse possession, trespassers and party walls.
Merlene also deals with contentious probate, commercial contract disputes, debt recovery and enforcement and professional negligence claims.
She represents both claimant and defendant and has handled cases at all levels, from the County Court and Tribunal to the European Court of Justice. Merlene has also handled a number of successful mediations and Adjudications. Her clients have included freeholders (companies and individuals), residential and commercial landlords, leaseholders, property owners, property managers, solicitors, surveyors, private companies and lenders.
Merlene has also represented overseas governments, individuals and corporate entities in numerous appeals to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. She is a member of the Privy Council User Group.
